Cosine Error Explained
Police Radar for detecting speeds is not accurate in some situations. In order for a radar gun to work radio frequency waves leave the gun and must retrieve back to the gun.
It turns out the Radar gun detects relative speed, while you are driving at your actual speed. Two different speed readings are occurring here. At whatever angle the Police Radar bounces off the direction you are driving will result in effecting his/her reading.
Cosine ERROR with Police Radar
Following the arrow up and over when it hits the red cosine line and multiplying by your actual speed with give you the Radar reading.
